Fast and easy customs processing with arvato services

In the EDP system known as ATLAS [Automated Tariff and Local Customs Processing System] – used by the German customs authorities for automating and speeding up customs processing – written customs processing documents are replaced by electronic notifications sent in Edifact format.

From July 1, 2009 it will be compulsory for all companies that ship products outside the EU to participate in the ATLAS system when exporting goods.

• eliminates travelling times to and waiting times at the customs office
• customs declaration is electronically sent to the responsible customs offices
• the export notice required under VAT law is sent by the customs authority as soon as the shipment has left the EU
• Extrastat reports no longer have to be sent for goods shipments that have been declared electronically via ATLAS
