BIO-certified

arvato services healthcare has been certified by Lacon, an officially recognised institute for bio-testing, and has received the BIO seal of approval. The audit conducted by Lacon confirms that all of arvato services healthcare’s supply chain processes at the Harsewinkel site meet the requirements of the European BIO regulations and that the corresponding quality assurance systems are lived and undergo continuous further development.

Storage, packaging, labelling and shipping of the BIO-certified pharmaceutical products are carried out in accordance with a prescribed, state monitored control process. Strict compliance with the regulations is the prerequisite for handling BIO drugs. This is the only way to consistently guarantee an ecological value chain. A positive supply chain eco-balance is necessary to maintain the ‘BIO product’ status.

The trend toward healthy and environmentally conscious living has been increasing steadily for years. More and more people consciously choose BIO products, with the result that a growing number of pharmaceutical manufacturers are orienting their product ranges towards ecological aspects. This increases the importance of supplier certification under the European BIO regulations.

arvato services healthcare is already handling the fine distribution of the entire product range for Anton Hübner, the second-largest producer of health food products exclusively for health food stores in Germany. The range consists of high-quality natural drugs, nutritional supplements, medical products, and natural body care products.

“In addition to certification under EN ISO 9001:2000, GMP, GDP and Sabanes-Oxley, arvato services healthcare now has the Lacon BIO certification as well. This means that we now meet our customers’ high quality requirements even more than before,” says Bernd Robke, Senior Director at arvato services healthcare. “We are pleased that we can offer our customers the ability to store and distribute their high-quality medical products in line with ecological considerations. By maintaining a consistent ecological value chain, we support our customers in their goal of offering their customers safe, unadulterated, natural products.”

Lacon has been conducting BIO auditing since the mid-1980s and, in 1992, became the first institution in the European Union to be approved to carry out state bio-testing. Lacon has since become one of the largest auditing institutions in the EU.
