arvato services healthcare Takes on Global Logistics for Epigenomics AG

Integrated Solutions for Sophisticated Diagnostic Products – arvato services healthcare has taken on global logistics for Berlin-based Epigenomics AG’s cancer diagnostic products.

The international outsourcing and logistics services provider will distribute a wide range of medical products for the molecular diagnostics company from its base in Monheim to laboratories and scientific institutions. In addition, arvato will provide packaging, in- and outbound transport, storage logistics services and refrigerated logistics.

Epigenomics’ product portfolio includes innovative laboratory tests for early detection and diagnosis of intestinal, lung and prostate cancer.

Appropriate refrigeration and safety specifications must be adhered to when shipping and transporting diagnostic products - arvato services healthcare has therefore focused on developing its expertise in this area at its site in Monheim on the Rhine, and over the last five years the number of shipments in this sector has tripled.

Quality assurance measures are always a top consideration: “Safe handling can only be ensured if we keep abreast of the changing legal stipulations. All our employees working with temperature-sensitive and sophisticated diagnostic products undergo regular specialist training programs to meet these demands,” explains André Sieberling, director of the Monheim site.

In addition to arvato’s expertise in diagnostics, Epigenomics’ decision to work with arvato services healthcare centred on its high safety standards, the broad spectrum of services offered and Monheim’s scalability. “When awarding the contract we consciously chose a service provider with a flexible distribution network that can grow with increasing demand,” emphasizes Dr. Uwe Staub, Senior Vice President of Product Development at Epigenomics. “Because arvato takes on all the global distribution processes,” points out Dr. Thorsten Winkelmann, managing director of arvato services healthcare, “the customer can concentrate fully on its core business.”

Epigenomics employs just under 90 people in Germany and is also represented in the United States by a subsidiary in Seattle, Washington.
